Cathedral’s Ktichen
Neighbors Helping Neighbors
The Cathedral’s Kitchen (CK) is a service-based ministry that helps feed our neighbors in need and connects them with valuable resources and services to assist them on their journey. The goal of the CK is not focused on feeding the masses as many standard feeding programs do, but it’s about making a connection with local people giving them a safe and friendly environment to gather. We find that serving 30 to 50 guests allows us to provide a more holistic approach in spiritual, mental, and physical care.

The CK is held every Saturday helping to fill a void in the “weekend food desert” in Wicker Park. We are able to serve this food thanks to generous donations and partnerships with local restaurants who believe in our mission, but serving food is just the start. Through the help of the Chicago Help Initiative (CHI) we offer professional and social services such as physical checkups, housing assignments, physical fitness programs, and much more. We greatly value our partnerships that allow us to connect to resources from all over the city.
Do You Want In?
If you are looking for your standard program where you can serve hundreds of people food and call it a day, this might not be the program for you. If you are looking to make a connection with locals from Wicker Park by getting to know their story, interacting with them, and assisting them with resources for self-improvement welcome aboard!
Our volunteer groups are made up of teams of six which allows for more interaction with our guests and helps build closer working relationships with our volunteers. This opportunity is open to anyone who is interested in service and making a difference in the local community.
